After Steve's departure the search was on for a top notch lead guitarist and as luck would have it an old friend of Roxi's stepped into the gap after an extensive break from playing! We had some great rehearsals and he joined us for one short set at a memorial gig, but shortly after this, Rickey had to pull out of the band due to family commitments.

Brief History

Lovers of rock and Jimi Hendrix may remember the ex frontman Rickey Powell from the days with his band Voodoo Chile who released 12 albums of original songs during their stint in the limelight some years ago that are still being played in europe today.

The band were popular regulars who packed out all the major UK venues including Hammersmith Palace, Camden Ballroom, The Marquee and a host of other awesome music venues, many of which have been turned into nightclubs or lost to the world of music forever.

His distinctive heavy rock playing style is bluesier and jazzier than the days when he strutted his stuff on stages across the world, but he can still pull out a mean solo which fits in with the Blue Cats blend of Blues/Rock like it was always meant to be there!

Ricky's debut performance with RoXi & the Blue Cats was at John Perrin's Memorial Gig at Forty Hall, but sadly this was the only time they have played together in public since family commitments meant he had to withdraw from the band just before the gig at Hilly Fields in 2008 which saw old bandmate Steve Burrows depping with the band.
